With a computer, a few IT programs and internet access, you can quickly create your own music, videos, clothing brand, logo, or online business. In the recent years in Switzerland, drop shipping has attracted many young people who want to start their own business, so that they no longer have to depend on an employer or be attached to a fixed workplace. And especially to make a lot of money in a very short time. The few who made their fortune with this system playing with the limits of the legal have become the gurus of all the others who will never see their hopes fulfilled. In the project she will present at Mosaic Room, Noha Mokhtar focuses on the hopes and failures of Generation Z and millennials who subject their dreams of freedom and economic independence to a neoliberal system, which promises a life of luxury in Dubai, New York or Saint-Tropez. From the role of social media influencers to redefining work, Mokhtar’s project explores not only the circulation of products and people, but also dreams and aesthetics for success.
